The 2017 USARS National Championships
in Lincoln, Nebraska
Our National Championship adventure did not start off well....our coach, Jerry Peterson, had a medical issue that did not permit him to travel to Lincoln with the team. Instead, Coach Sandy Halloran accompanied the team to Lincoln to cover the youth portion of the Championships as the Club's coach for the first four days. She also remained in Lincoln after Jeffery and Felicia were finished to represent the Club in the adult portion of the competition featuring Keith Frolkey and Cindi Nolan.
A very special thanks to Coach Sandy Halloran for filling in for Coach Jerry, and for doing an excellent job representing our entire team as Team Coach!!

** NOTICE **
The recent elections of the Directors on the Board resulted in two new Directors: Debbie Harrigan and Margaret McMahan. Debbie and Margaret will be spearheading the fundraising drive along with other member volunteers in preparation for competitions on all levels.
A new season schedule of competitions will be posted shortly as soon as all of the competitions on the list are confirmed. The schedule is expected to be similar to last year's schedule with one exception...the State Sunshine Games will not be held in Cassleberry, FL this year. Instead, it will probably be held in Orlando, FL. This is one of the competitions that we are awaiting confirmation on. There will be a Hearts of Memphis competition this season on February 3rd and 4th at the East End Skating Center in Memphis, TN.
Jerry Peterson has recently undergone open heart surgery, and is home recovering, and doing well. We expect to see Jerry at the rink for practices....probably a lot sooner than he should...but then again we are talking about Jerry Peterson who will not let something like this keep him down for very long!! We all wish him a speedy recovery!!

Boost Mobile - Inverness, FL.
Debbie and I had stopped in to see about changing our phone service over to Boost Mobile. We had been told that it was a superior service to the service that we presently use. Mr. Ryan Lancaster, owner of the store, sold us on a special package available until 1-4-18 that gives us far more than our old package at about 75% of what we are paying now. In addition, he has offered to help our club in fundraising events in the future. I encourage everyone to stop in and check out the package deals that Ryan is offering. You'll be glad you did!!

Newly sanctioned members by USARS joins our club. Tom and Cheryl Klutz hail from Indiana bringing years of experience and talent with them!
The Citrus Rollers rolled into Memphis, TN today - 2/218 - and attended the practice before the competition this weekend. Pictured below is our coaches, Jerry Peterson and Cynthia Nolan on either side of Caroline Mirelli, the host of the Hearts of Memphis competition. Caroline just turned 88 years young on February 1st.
The Citrus Rollers had an excellent weekend in Memphis, Tennessee...took home 28 medals compared to only 15 last year....and nearly walked off with the overall meet trophy!! Everyone won medals...a first for our club!! Congrats to all!!
